Mind Over Body
Recent research has proved that thinking yourself fit can really work! Clinical researchers in Ohio asked a group of volunteers to image that they were exercising their biceps for 15 minutes a day. After twelve weeks tests proved that their biceps were 13 percent stronger.
Relax and Slim has been supporting this principal for many years and use it as the basis of the self-help CDs. At last the scientific community appears to be catching up.
Whilst ‘thinking yourself fit’ is very effective for most people it does not replace the need for a proper diet, good sleep and regular exercise. It is very effective for supplementing weigh management and especially helps people who are unable from whatever reasons to take regular exercise or significantly change dietary intake.
The Sleep Ration
Following a number of recent health claims that ‘getting a good night’s sleep’ can help you slim, we are often being asked our opinion on the relationship between sleep and slimming.
Too much or too little of anything tends to be bad for us. It is no different with sleep. If we are sleeping then we are inactive so staying in bed asleep too long reduces the number of hours of activity in any one day. When we are active we burn far more calories so if we do not reduce our calorie intake to match the levels of activity / inactivity then we will gain weight.
Too little sleep causes physical and mental stress, including poor concentration and irrational thinking. To compensate most people tend to snack and use high sugar foods and high fat foods as a ‘fast fix’ for their lack energy and ability to concentrate. The carbohydrate rush makes them feel better, gives them energy and helps them concentrate but does not satisfy their hunger. To satisfy their hunger, rather than eat proper food, they consume more high sugar and fat foods until their hunger is satisfied. The excess calories are then stored as fat.
If getting too little sleep in unavoidable then use a relaxation recording to snatch back 15 or 30 minutes during the day. Whatever you do, do not skip breakfast.
Emotional Eating
Anxiety and worries often contribute to weight management problems. Everyone experiences anxiety but most of us keep it under control. Help should always be sought when anxiety starts to undermine sleep, cause relationship problems, create emotional and anger issues, and damage health.
Many people contact us asking for help with anxiety and emotional eating problems. We have included some links to associates and Advisors that you may find useful.
Fat or Thin?
Many thin people are very unhealthy and are at as high a risk as someone who is overweight.
Being healthy is not about being thin, it is about getting diet, exercise and life skills in balance. Relax and Slim promotes a healthy balance and does not condemn or ridicule those who are over their ‘ideal’ weight. Relax and slim seeks to provide motivation and guidance to help clients towards a healthier lifestyle. Relax and Slim promotes help and support for you without undue pressure or stress.

Can Dodging Breakfast
make you Fat ?
Yes! When you eat is as important as what you eat. A good breakfast will keep you going without resorting to high sugar / fat snacks during the morning. Once you start on the morning snacks it can be very difficult to give them up. Your body and mind love the high sugar and fat laden snacks but they don’t satisfy your hunger. To satisfy your hunger you eat more high sugar and fat laden snacks, but you now have an excess of calories in your body which is then stored as fat.
Remember, certain foods, especially high sugar and fat laden foods, can be very addictive and your mind will trick you into consuming them. If you cannot face breakfast in the morning but have a longing for a snack when you get to work then you may already have a food addiction problem.
