Finding Love

If you are having problems finding love
then you may need to look carefully and
critically at what you may be doing
wrong or inappropriately.

There are so many different things that
could be undermining your ability to
attract a new partner.

This may appear a bit harsh, but if you are seriously trying but failing to find that significant other person in your life, then you need to accept that change is necessary, because doing the same thing over and over will only result in you getting the same results.

If you come to see a relationship therapist you will be expected to look closely at yourself, and you may need to face up to some stark realities. The therapist will be very proactive and push you outside of your comfort zone, so that issues will be recognised and you find both a need and a way to change.

Relationship issues that your therapist will discuss with you:

• Confidence
• Conversational skills
• Body language
• Dress sense
• Personal habits
• Hobbies and interests
• Personal hygiene
• Personal grooming and personal scent
• Focus and intensity
• Fears and phobias
• Emotional triggers
• Sexual issues and preferences
• Past experiences (good and bad)
• Unrealistic expectations
• Repetition compulsion  
• Obsessions

This is not a definitive list and some of the above overlap, for example eye contact will be a part of Conversational skills, Body language and Focus and intensity.

The session with a therapist will not be with the intention of providing you with the ‘magic solution’. You will be expected to look carefully at how you present yourself now, what relationship issues you may have and look at ways in which you can realistically change. You will be given a programme for change that will build step by step on small successes, as the solution is rarely down to one issue or problem.
