The Problem

If you have IBS or Fibromyalgia you will no doubt be very frustrated with your medical adviser’s ability to help you overcome the disorder. You may have even been told that your problems are psychosomatic or diet related, so up to you to resolve.

If on prescribed drugs, you will probably be aware that they are most likely treating the symptoms of your problem not the cause. You are being simply made more comfortable and being expected to live with the pain and discomfort, which may be getting worse behind the mask of drug induced relief. You have the added concern of what damage the drugs themselves may be causing and their long term effectiveness.

There are many very real and painful conditions that have their roots in how you respond to stress and anxiety. Exposing your body to long term stress causes damage, both mentally and physically, which can be expressed as severe inflammation in various part of your body. Where it occurs will normally depend on other weaknesses, such as nutritional deficiencies, old injuries, genetic weaknesses, etc.

Getting Help

Dealing with these disorders is difficult and often requires significant lifestyle changes, plus a change in mental attitude and how you react to situations you perceive as stressful.

I don’t pretend to have an answer to your discomforts that will make them go away, however I have worked with a number of IBS, Fibromyalgia and CFS sufferers and have helped them make significant improvements by working on both the symptoms and the problem.

This is one of the few areas where I would strongly suggest clinical hypnotherapy, as you need to be able to control stress and anxiety issues to reduce the stress induced physical symptoms and allow the healing to start.

I will also be looking very carefully at your diet, nutrition and lifestyle, not because they are necessarily a cause, but because they may be creating the weakness, plus I need to improve your potential for healing.

Please be aware that my help with these conditions is long term and may involve other specialists and therapists, plus require significant, and maybe difficult, lifestyle changes.
