STRESS BENCHMARKS PROJECT

Data is only useful when you have something to measure it against!

Creating an Industry Benchmark

The stress benchmarking project started in December 2007 and is designed to add value to the Health and Safety Executive’s 35 question stress management standards questionnaire. It has also been expanded to include the new HSE 67 question ‘Work Positive’ questionnaire.

All contributors to the stress benchmarking database will receive a copy of the MS Excel Benchmarking Tool which allows you to access the combined results from all other participants from your industry or sector and compare them to your results.

The data is anonymised so no geographical data will be included. This protects the identity of those companies and organisations who have contributed data.

Copies of the Excel Benchmarking Tool are now only available to those organisations / employers / consultants who have contributed data, at a cost of £750.00.

Availability

The Tool will be made available as soon as five or more significant data contributions have been made. The Tool will then be updated as more contributions are made.

The following UK projects are available / in progress:

Police Forces Stress Benchmark

NHS Stress Benchmark

Local Authorities Stress Benchmark - January 2009

Retail Businesses Stress Benchmark - March 2009

Construction Industry Stress Benchmark - March 2009

The above projects have all been instigated following a request from an employer from that sector. The completion dates are dependent on the speed at which data is received.

Is Your Industry / Sector Mentioned?

If your Industry / Sector is not mentioned why not ask us to start a new project. It will cost you nothing other than a few hours of your time as we would like you to send us details of contact points within other organisations in your industry / sector so we can ask for data contributions. We would also ask that you promote the project and this web site to other organisations at appropriate conferences and meetings so the required data can be gathered as quickly as possible.

The Stress Hot Spot Analysis Tools

Tool 1 - this tool enables you to visually analysis all elements of a demographic group within your organisation at the same time against a chosen HSE question. Results are presented as HSE scores in a matrix.  For example:

Tool 2 - this advanced tool enables you to visually analysis two demographic groups in your organisation against the results of up to five questions. Results are not limited to HSE questions and are  presented as a matrix.  For example - in this matrix the results are presented as actual responses to the chosen questions and are comparing Age and Gender demographic groups against the responses to HSE questions 5 and 21 (bullying and harassment):
